Many modern homes feature a bar type area in the kitchen, where people can sit and eat or keep you company while you cook. Finding the perfect bar seating for this area can pose a challenge for some people, as many conventional bar seats do not work well in a kitchen. Modern bar stools actually offer some options that are ideal for use in a kitchen though. Some features to look for when purchasing bar stools for your kitchen are
1 - Does the bar chair have a back? Many times, people wind up purchasing old school, very simple stools that are just a basic sear with no frills. Although fine to sit in for a short while, the lack of back support can quickly become uncomfortable. Many modern bar chairs have a back, which means that they are much more comfortable to sit in for long periods of time.

2 - Does the bar stool swivel? One of the chief advantages of choosing a stool that swivels is that you can easily get into and out of the seat without ever dragging it across the floor. This is especially helpful if you have small children, who may struggle, trying to pull their stool close enough to the bar to allow them to reach their plate.
3 - Is the seat padded? While for some, the thought of a padded bar stool may bring to mind the tacky, vinyl stools found in many local bars and watering holes across the country. Modern bar seats are available with padding, in a variety of attractive styles that will coordinate nicely in any home.
4 - How tall is the bar stool? Just as people come in different heights, there are many different height bar stools on the market. Before making a purchase, you will want to measure the height from the floor to the bar. A stool should be tall enough to allow you to reach the bar without leaving your knees mashed up into the underside.
By keeping these four tips in mind, you will have more luck in finding modern bar stools for your home that are both beautiful and functional. Bar seating has come a long way over the years and there have been many improvements made, so it is wise to take advantage of that fact, and find the best stools for your home. Doing so will help ensure that you get the most for your money.
